A Collection of Small Wonders

As the result of a yet undisclosed massively cool project I became the proud owner of some 80+ miniature liquors, more commonly known as “nips”.
These cute little fellows share varying degrees of likeness to their 750ml parent bottles but all share the joy of 50ml of pure fun. Using my lil’ light tent, I made a set of photos of these characters, trying fairly hard to match up the lighting & the colors. I am pleased with the results.
Fairly soon I will introduce an interesting application of these carefree shots, but for know you can simply lose yourself in this forest of booze!
Magic Machines

This is a shot of one of many painfully awesome kinetic sculptures by Arthur Ganson that you can find at the MIT Museum. Most of them involve some type of viewer input, a little hand crank or a button on the floor to start up the gears & other weird things strung together to create his odd yet beautiful machines.
The MIT Museum is right off Mass Ave near Central Square – if you’ve never gone you are missing out on a Boston nerd-gem (they have a lot of sweet robot/hologram stuff as well!)

Giant Crazy Soccer

Waiting for some peeps in NYC I saw some soccer team warming up and kicking around a giant soccer ball – they had a crazy flag that said ‘Chinatown Soccer Club’. What made it all the better was that it looks and moves similar to a real ball, knocking people over and causing mayhem but luckily making the perspective amusing in these photos…

The good thing about taking hundreds of photos of the same thing is that you end up getting a shot like this – look at those huge eyes, the floppy velvet ears, slightly moist puppy nose and crinkly doggie brow… and that mouth, whiskery without pretension – an elegant little fellow!

Turning the big 29 is a tough one, the last year of your 20s – yowsers…
To celebrate this I threw myself a lavish taco party – it was awesome. Then I got a sweet bday surprise present – I was caught completely off-guard by this little supergadget.
Bonus: Check out the sweet shirt!
Front Page News!

I finally made it to the front page of a newspaper! The JP Gazette saw fit to feature me in line, waiting to vote – I think they said something like this, bit below the fold: “this young man represents the future of all that is well and good in America and, likely, the rest of the world, may god bless this great land.”
Look at that stance, that confidence – that is really something…

Potty Business

Today, whilst looking for a small recycling bin, to assuage my guilt for creating massive amounts of waste, I came across some amusing tiny customizable recycling bins and other “green” knick-knacks for trade shows and potential waste-management customers.
Anyways, in the midst of these amusing tchotchkes is this gem, displayed on the left – a port-a-potty of lilliputian proportions with a spot for a custom logo! I am no marketing genius, but I recognize brilliance when I see it.
I am sure these are great handouts for those in the industry, but why stop there – imagine the shock and awe when someone asks for your business card and you whip out one of these beauts! Unfortunately they are listed as only 7/8″ tall and 1″ wide but there is a little slot in the door for more potential hilarity.
The real crime is the pricing, $7 a piece for 50 and an $115 charge for setup??? That’s about $9 per novelty crapper. Still… these are essentially guaranteed to bring in new customers and will hold a prominent place in many many cubicles for years to come.
I know where my stimulus payout is headin!
