election nite

Some previous comment reminded me of election night, which turned out to be a series of terrible errors.

The biggest error of the night was my brazen multipart $175 bet that Kerry would win. I like to think of the bet as a reaction to pessimistic friends who pegged Kerry’s chances lower than a monkey in a bannana warehouse, slim to none. So, I made some bold betting manuevers, now I’m finally almost in the clear. I was kinda hoping for debt relief, but no dice.

The second error was drinking a fair amount and then heading down to Copley Square. We had just seen Florida pass into crapitude and Ohio was not looking so hot. But the chance to see a jubiliant Kerry/Edwards was too good to pass up.

We got there pretty late and the crowd was already too big to fit comfortably in the square and it was virtually impossible to see anything. So we holed up in some bar watching the results, it was pretty defeating. Once we got back outside to check out the scene, the group had gone morose, it became clear that there would be now champange parties tonight. It was an incredibly sad time, and being in the middle of a rally of thousands of sad-looking young people just made it worse.

Then a tactical error was committed when I accompanied my buddy to a ritzy hotel bar to meet his ex-girlfriend for a “drink”. Bad vibes abound the area and luckily we escaped before too much went awry.

Yeah, that whole night sucked, really really bad. cool

tactical error indeed. amen motherfucker, amen. we should’ve known things’d be bad when we were stopped by security on our way into the bar…
